Are You Happy? - First Few Thoughts
Oct. 25th, 2016 10:16 pmArashi's 'Are You Happy?' came out today and I got to listen to some of it! I've not had a chance to hear it all the way through but here are some random thoughts on a few of the songs
I already have 'Daylight' and 'I Seek' - I prefer 'Daylight' since Jun is my niban and I actually watched '99.9%', but didn't bother with 'Sekai Ichi Muzukashii Koi'. So for me, 'Daylight' has some fun connotations of Jun being a nerdy lawyer whereas 'I Seek' is just Arashi being hungover after a party. :|
I really wanted to like 'To My Homies' for being awful but apart from the cringeworthy phone intro it's more so-so than I hoped for. Maybe it'll grow on me? I don't dislike it, but it's more the kind of song I would have on in the background rather than actively listening to it.
'Baby Blue' I really like! It's the kind of thing I can imagine playing on a kids' TV show on a weekend morning, or on some kind of whimsical chat show. Except I also imagine Jun singing it topless. (Hmm, these two things should probably not mix.)
And, oh God. 'Sunshine'. I f**king love it. It's so cheesy and it has some of that bad Sho rap which I love so much. Definitely my favourite so far, and yes, I am biased. So there. :p (Although when I listen to it on the bus in the morning at 5:30am and Sho is telling me 'GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!' he can f**k right off. It's too early, sloping shoulders!)
I'll listen to more of them tomorrow - it felt kind of overwhelming to hear everything at once, so I'm focusing on a couple of songs at a time and getting used to them before I hear more.
